Managing Photos

How to upload and organize listing photos

Managing Photos

Great photos are essential for showcasing properties. This guide explains how to upload, organize, and manage listing photos.

Photo Sources

Your listings can have photos from two sources:

  1. Your uploads — Photos you add through the dashboard
  2. MLS photos — Photos synced automatically from MLS data

Your uploads always take priority. If you upload photos for a listing, those display instead of MLS photos.

Uploading Photos

Step 1: Find the Listing

  1. Go to Listings in your dashboard
  2. Search or browse to find the listing
  3. Click on the listing to open it

Step 2: Open Photo Management

  1. Click the Photos tab or section
  2. You'll see existing photos (if any) and an upload area

Step 3: Upload Your Photos

Method 1: Drag and Drop

  • Drag image files from your computer directly onto the upload area

Method 2: Click to Browse

  • Click the upload area
  • Select one or more images from your computer
  • Click Open

Step 4: Wait for Upload

  • A progress indicator shows upload status
  • Photos appear in the grid when complete
  • You can upload multiple photos at once

Photo Guidelines

SettingRecommendation
FormatJPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC

File sizeUnder 20 MB per photo
OrientationLandscape (horizontal) preferred

Photo Order

The first photo is the "primary" photo—it appears:

  • As the main image on listing cards
  • As the hero image on the detail page
  • In search results and social sharing

To reorder photos:

  1. Drag photos to rearrange them
  2. The first position becomes primary
  3. Click Save Order when done

What to Upload

Do upload:

  • High-quality exterior shots
  • Living spaces (living room, kitchen, bedrooms)
  • Standout features (pool, view, fireplace)
  • Updated bathrooms and kitchens
  • Outdoor spaces and landscaping

Avoid uploading:

  • Blurry or dark photos
  • Photos with personal items visible
  • Watermarked images (unless they're yours)
  • Photos that don't match the property

Setting the Primary Photo

The primary photo is the most important—it's the first impression.

Changing the Primary Photo

  1. Go to the listing's Photos section
  2. Find the photo you want as primary
  3. Either:
    • Drag it to the first position, or
    • Click the star/primary icon on the photo
  4. Save your changes

Choosing a Good Primary Photo

Select a photo that:

  • Shows the property at its best angle
  • Has good lighting
  • Is high resolution
  • Represents the property accurately

Deleting Photos

Removing Individual Photos

  1. Hover over the photo you want to remove
  2. Click the delete icon (trash can)
  3. Confirm deletion

Clearing All Uploaded Photos

If you want to go back to MLS photos:

  1. Delete all uploaded photos
  2. MLS photos will automatically display instead

When MLS Photos Display

MLS photos appear when:

  • You haven't uploaded any photos
  • All uploaded photos have been deleted

If MLS photos aren't available either, visitors see a "Photos Coming Soon" placeholder.

Photo Quality Tips

Take Better Photos

  • Time of day — Golden hour (early morning or evening) provides warm, flattering light
  • Clean first — Declutter and clean before shooting
  • Wide angles — Show entire rooms from corners
  • Stability — Use a tripod or steady surface
  • Multiple angles — Capture each room from different viewpoints

Edit Photos Wisely

  • Brighten dark images
  • Straighten crooked horizons
  • Crop out distractions
  • Don't over-filter or misrepresent the property

Professional Photography

For important listings, consider:

  • Hiring a professional photographer
  • Using professional editing services
  • Adding drone/aerial photography
  • Including twilight shots

Troubleshooting

Photos not uploading

  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure files are under 20 MB
  • Try a different browser
  • Verify file format (JPEG, PNG, WebP, HEIC)
  • For general media uploads, see the Media Library

Photos look blurry

  • Upload higher resolution originals
  • Avoid screenshots of photos
  • Don't crop too aggressively

Wrong photo showing as primary

  • Reorder photos so your preferred one is first
  • Or use the "set as primary" option
  • Save changes and refresh the page

MLS photos not showing

  • MLS data sync may still be in progress
  • Some MLS systems don't provide photo URLs
  • Upload your own photos as a solution

Uploaded photos disappeared

  • Photos may have been deleted accidentally
  • Check if someone else manages the listing
  • Re-upload if needed

Photo Privacy

Remember:

  • Photos are visible to anyone on your public site
  • Remove personal items from shots before uploading
  • Be mindful of photos showing neighboring properties
  • Get permission before including recognizable people
